It was with heavy hearts that we learnt that Grahame Collier passed away over the weekend.
Many of you will have been educated by, or educated alongside, Grahame over the years and will know the depth of his passion for people, place and our planet. He was always quick with a smile and a laugh, could be counted on for a word of encouragement or insight, and poured himself tirelessly into his work to educate and engage all he met.
Here at AAEE NSW we can confidently say we would not be delivering the breadth of programs that we are today without him. He served as National AAEE President from 2004 – 2007, AAEE NSW President from 2016 – 2018 and was a dedicated Executive Committee member for many years in between, generously volunteering countless hours. He was integral in managing the handover of Sustainable Schools NSW to the Association, growing our team and helping deliver key grant projects and conferences.
Beyond the Association, he trail-blazed education and engagement projects in health, sustainability and community engagement as a teacher, senior government employee and consultant.
He has left an incredible legacy and we will continue to do everything we can to build on his work as we go forward.
Vale Grahame – your work and who you were will not be forgotten.
Sue Martin
President, AAEE NSW
