For decades the Australian Association for Environmental Education NSW Chapter has worked collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to promote education for sustainability in NSW. We are excited to announce a new partnership has been formed between AAEE NSW and Return and Earn to support schools and community groups in their sustainability journey.
Return and Earn is the largest litter reduction initiative ever introduced in NSW. Over 2 billion containers have been returned through the network, with a reduction of 57% of drinks containers found in the litter stream. The Return and Earn program provides valuable incentives for schools to collect and carefully recycle eligible containers, while gaining funds for key social and environmental projects. The partnership will focus particularly on supporting Sustainable Schools NSW members and Take Me Outside NSW participants, to make use of the Return and Earn program to their full advantage. Schools returning eligible containers can receive a 10-cent refund for each can or bottle.
